Meet Donny the
Platybelodon
Donny was the first Fracas character. Born in 2018 and reborn frequently after, Donny has become a constant core to the Fracas identity. Pre-Truncated, Donny was the first proboscidean to appear in my own Fossil record. As a Platybelodon, Donny represents an unknown species. Donny also represents a constant drive to improve and refine the Fracas style. For half a decade, what it means to be Fracas has seen revolution after revolution.

Donny’s first appearance, the eponymous short animation project, was undertaken as a part of my BFA degree in 2018, an exercise in utilizing animation software. Despite being incomplete, this fledgling exercise fried the pachyderm into the deep grooves and wrinkles of my brain.

What happened to Donny?
Long story short… COVID. During 2020, Donny would star in a gallery alongside other proboscideans. Truncated: East Coast Elephants it would have been. And indeed, Truncated it was. The gallery would never be finished after the loss of university facilities. More on that in the linked gallery. But that doesn’t mean Fracas would end.
